Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the diagnosis and clinical management of patients in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.
• Conduct regular ward rounds and provide clinical support alongside the junior medical team.
• Collaborate with colleagues across specialties for a cohesive approach to patient care.
• Participate in the Acute Medicine rota, including shifts and weekend cover.
• Promote the work of the AMU and support Trust priorities for patient flow improvement.
• Engage in teaching, audit, governance, and research activities.
• Provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff.

Key Skills:

• MRCP or equivalent qualification.
• Full registration with the GMC in General Internal Medicine/Acute Internal Medicine.
• Experience of UK hospital systems and practices.
• Postgraduate experience including higher surgical/medical training.
• Training in diagnosis and treatment of acute medical conditions.
• Proven teaching ability and willingness to teach medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
