Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management, and treatment for patients with complex geriatric medicine needs.
  • Act as an expert resource for medical, nursing, and other healthcare professionals across the Trust.
  • Champion high-quality medicine for older people locally and regionally.
  • Complement and develop existing services through specialist knowledge.
  • Participate in on-call duties for General Internal Medicine.
  • Engage in mentoring and support for team members delivering geriatric care.

Key Skills:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Geriatrics and General Medicine.
  • MRCP(UK) or equivalent training and experience.
  • Wide experience in General Medicine and understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • Experience in leading and motivating staff, with evidence of audit work and participation in research.
  • Excellent collaborative working skills and ability to build strong relationships with clinical and managerial leaders.
  • Political astuteness and the ability to influence and drive performance improvements.
  • Strong commitment to public sector values and high standards in leadership.
