Summary: The Consultant Dentist for Sleep Research & Development at ORB Innovations will oversee clinical studies related to smart oral appliances aimed at improving sleep and wellness. This role requires a GDC-registered Dentist with expertise in sleep dentistry to collaborate with engineers and technicians, ensuring participant safety and adherence to best practices. The position is part-time and hybrid, involving both remote work and on-site sessions in London. The consultant will report directly to the Director of Human Performance & Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee clinical aspects of studies on smart oral appliances for bruxism and obstructive sleep apnoea.
- Review research volunteer information, clinical histories, and appliance safety.
- Collaborate with product engineers and dental technicians; advise on materials, fit, occlusion, and safety.
- Ensure best practice in participant safety, documentation, and GCP-aligned processes.
- Report progress and clinical recommendations to the Director, Human Performance & Health.
Key Skills:
- Undergraduate & postgraduate dental qualifications and current GDC registration.
- Hands-on experience with sleep dentistry (OSA mandibular advancement therapy, bruxism management).
- Confident assessing fit, retention, occlusion, comfort, and materials for safety.
- Collaborative communicator who enjoys translating clinical insights into product improvements.

ORB Innovations is a London based wearable technology start-up turning oral appliances into intelligent wellness solutions. We’re looking for a GDC-registered Dentist with some sleep dentistry expertise (OSA and bruxism) to guide the clinical side of our research and development programme.
What you’ll do
- Oversee clinical aspects of studies on smart oral appliances for bruxism and obstructive sleep apnoea.
- Review research volunteer information, clinical histories, and appliance safety (incl. mandibular advancement devices).
- Collaborate with product engineers and dental technicians; advise on materials, fit, occlusion, and safety.
- Ensure best practice in participant safety, documentation, and GCP-aligned processes.
- Report progress and clinical recommendations to the Director, Human Performance & Health.
About you
