Construction Senior Project Manager - Local Authority

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager for a local authority in Rotherham to provide client-side project management support across a portfolio of major capital construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring the delivery of projects to programme, budget, and quality requirements. The successful candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder engagement, and oversee project progression through relevant RIBA stages.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of multiple construction projects with a combined value of approximately £30 million.
  • Manage day-to-day project activity across design, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Monitor programme delivery, milestones, risks, and project budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure actions are progressed and project objectives are achieved within agreed timescales.
  • Support projects through the relevant RIBA stages from design development to completion.
  • Act as the client-side representative, providing technical oversight and informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate project meetings, maintain governance arrangements, and produce progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, and health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, design consultants, and external delivery partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Significant experience managing construction projects within a client-side or consultancy environment.
  • Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project lifecycles.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
  • Experience managing projects through RIBA stages.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional project management qualification or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within local government or the public sector.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (APM, RICS, CIOB, or similar).
