Summary: The Construction Planner role involves managing the Primavera P6 programme for a major factory build and fit-out project in Sunderland. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the existing Primavera P6 programme for large-scale build and fit-out works
- Coordinate and oversee the integrated master programme with the main contractor and key stakeholders
- Ensure alignment between construction activities and operational scope requirements
- Act as the programme focal point, providing challenge and assurance on contractor submissions
- Monitor and drive delivery against the 21 key Project Management Instructions (PMIs) to ensure on-time completion
- Lead programme reviews, progress validation, and performance reporting
- Identify, analyse and mitigate programme risks, delays, and dependencies
- Support the commercial team through programme input on compensation events
- Manage NEC contractual processes, including early warning notices and change control mechanisms
- Produce and assess what-if scenarios, recovery strategies, and mitigation plans
Key Skills:
- Strong expertise in Primavera P6 (planning, updating, and analysis)
- Proven experience on major construction projects, ideally factory builds, industrial, or large-scale fit-outs
- Demonstrable NEC contract experience, including early warnings and compensation events
- Experience working across both client and contractor environments
- Ability to manage and interrogate integrated programmes involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and operational integration
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Planner (P6) to join a high-profile major factory build and fit-out project in Sunderland. This role will see you working client-side, taking ownership of programme management across complex construction and operational scopes, ensuring delivery certainty under an NEC contract framework. This is a contract position outside IR35, offering a competitive £450-500 per day, with a hybrid working model (3 days on site in Sunderland), with some further flexibility on this.
