Summary: Ridge is seeking a paralegal to support its Legal & Insurance Team, focusing on legal, risk, and compliance functions. This role offers an opportunity for individuals to begin their legal careers within a growing in-house legal department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a pragmatic approach to legal training and will work closely with experienced lawyers. Responsibilities include contract review, insurance tracking, and supporting compliance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with the contract review process: intake, triage and tracking
  • Maintain and update the contract review tracker to ensure that all requests are captured
  • Monitor review timelines to ensure contract review requests are processed efficiently
  • Contributing to internal know-how and best practice materials
  • Contributing to internal legal features and bulletins
  • Maintain and update the professional indemnity insurance approvals tracker
  • Serve as the primary contact for issuing insurance certificate renewals
  • Tracking progress of professional indemnity insurance claims and preparing reports for the Board
  • Support the Compliance Team with ad-hoc tasks
  • Reviewing bespoke client appointment contracts
  • Negotiating and drafting appointment contracts and their associated framework, collateral and downstream agreements
  • Reviewing and negotiating NDAs
  • Liaising with project teams during contract formation, ensuring compliance with internal protocols
  • Collating and updating precedent clauses and documents
  • Interpretation of Ridge’s insurance policies
  • Supporting business development in the legal sector for Ridge’s Expert Witness function

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong academic background
  • Flexible, organised, and self-motivated team player
  • Commercial understanding of the construction industry - desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people across the business
  • Confidence to operate autonomously in a highly commercial environment

You will join a team of experienced lawyers who will offer support from day one. Your role and responsibilities will include the following:
