Configuration Manager

Summary: The Configuration Manager role at a leading Defence & Space organization in Portsmouth involves overseeing Configuration Management best practices and providing guidance to stakeholders within the CADM team. The position requires managing CM activities, maintaining controlled data, and supporting project teams while ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements. The role also includes training users on CM tools and managing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Current SC Clearance is preferred, or candidates must be eligible to obtain it.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform CM activities including identification, control, planning, change, status accounting, and audit.
• Record, control, maintain, and distribute controlled data.
• Provide reports to the CADM Team Lead and project teams.
• Support one or more projects/products as the CADM focal point.
• Maintain the PLM/CMDB in a fit state with the CADM team.
• Manage data in multiple environments as required.
• Support CM activities facing external stakeholders and ensure compliance.
• Monitor and control the quality of internal documents and CMDB state.
• Create and manage relevant structures in the CMDB.
• Lead CADM team members assigned to specific projects.
• Set up and run CM activities as part of the project lifecycle.
• Develop CM processes and tool improvements.

Key Skills:

• Digitally literate and proficient with MS Office tools.
• Experience with file/data management tools (MS Office, PDF editor, FTP, etc.).
• Full knowledge of Configuration Management principles.
• Experience with Product Data Management tools (Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.).
• Understanding of project and product lifecycle.
• Minimum 5 years of Configuration Management experience in a technical environment.
• Experience in a CM Liaison role with customers.
• Good standard of education (Degree, HNC, Diploma, NVQ Level 5 or higher).
• CM II or equivalent qualification desirable.
• European languages advantageous.
