Summary: The Composites Design Engineer role is focused on designing and developing composite components, particularly in high-performance motorsport settings like Formula 1. The position requires hands-on experience from concept to manufacture, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop composite components, primarily bodywork, using Siemens NX.
- Take ownership of projects from initial concept through to final design release.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and tooling teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for composite parts and assemblies.
- Apply design-for-manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
- Support tooling design and liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and feasibility.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a Formula 1 or high-level motorsport environment.
- Proficient in Siemens NX CAD software.
- Strong background in composite materials and bodywork design.
- Experience with tooling design and design for manufacture.
- Ability to manage the full design lifecycle from concept to release.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
