Summary: The Component Testing Lead will be a key member of the Ads Engineering team, responsible for designing and implementing a testing framework that enables over 150 micro-services to execute deterministic component tests on pull requests. This role involves defining the architecture for the test harness, building reusable pipeline templates, and coaching service teams during the rollout. The position emphasizes continuous improvement through tracking key performance indicators and providing developer documentation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in micro-services and CI/CD pipelines, particularly within Docker and Kubernetes environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the test-harness architecture (Docker images, mock/stub libraries, CLI wrapper).
- Build reusable pipeline templates for GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps; enforce quality gates.
- Pair with two pilot service teams; coach others during roll-out waves.
- Publish developer docs, sample repos, and screencasts; run weekly office hours.
- Track KPIs (build time, pass rate) and drive continuous improvement.
Key Skills:
- 6+ years of experience building micro-services and CI/CD pipelines in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building Test Automation Frameworks from the ground up, including Mocking for a large organization of 50+ developers and a large microservices environment.
- Expert with test frameworks and mocking tools (JUnit, Pytest, WireMock, Pact, Testcontainers).
- Java (or other OOP language) development experience.
- Proven record of creating internal CLIs, templates, or SDKs that boost DevEx.
