Summary: The Compliance Manager role involves overseeing compliance activities within a large local government organization, focusing on training, procurement of service contracts, and ensuring statutory compliance for mechanical and electrical services. The position requires collaboration with various departments to support service delivery and manage compliance-related issues. This is a 3-month contract with the potential for extension, and candidates must possess relevant qualifications and experience in compliance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate training and support across Building Services to ensure staff understand compliance activities.
  • Lead the procurement of strategic service contracts and frameworks for compliance services.
  • Manage mechanical and electrical service and repair contracts to meet statutory compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Directors and Heads of Service to ensure effective compliance activities.
  • Work with the Head of Compliance and Head of Asset Management to inform capital works programmes.
  • Provide compliance advice across Building Services and the wider Council as necessary.
  • Ensure HRA and General Fund assets meet service and customer needs sustainably.
  • Stay updated on industry changes and identify emergent compliance issues.
  • Participate in the Out of House escalation process and respond to out-of-hours Building Services issues.

Key Skills:

  • Relevant property-related degree and Chartered Membership of RICS/CIBSE/CMIOSH or equivalent.
  • Substantial relevant experience in a similar compliance role if not Chartered.
  • Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH Certificate or Diploma preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of compliance legislation including Control of Asbestos Regulations and Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Strong technical knowledge of compliance areas and ability to provide professional advice.
