Summary: The Compliance Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering the compliance strategy for a financial wellbeing platform, focusing on consumer credit and payment services. This role requires a pragmatic compliance professional with a strong background in financial crime and regulatory frameworks. The position is on a fixed-term contract with potential for permanence, reporting directly to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. The Compliance Manager will also oversee the Consumer Duty framework and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting product development and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance the compliance strategy and roadmap
  • Maintain and improve existing policies and draft new policies as required
  • Monitor regulatory developments, including Financial Conduct Authority guidance and assess business impact to ensure appropriate implementation of changes
  • Own and maintain the Consumer Duty framework in line with PRIN 12, including leading the annual Consumer Duty Board report and ongoing monitoring of customer outcomes data
  • Develop and deliver the Compliance Monitoring Plan, identifying and escalating compliance risks in a timely manner
  • Provide clear, independent, and pragmatic regulatory advice and support product development through effective review and challenge
  • Own the financial promotions approval process and partner with Marketing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Lead the design and delivery of regulatory training programmes to embed a strong compliance culture
  • Support the Leadership Team and Board in fulfilling regulatory responsibilities and manage the Financial Conduct Authority supervisory relationship, including regulatory visits, requests, and submissions

Key Skills:

  • Experience in consumer credit compliance
  • Strong background in financial crime, including anti-money laundering
  • Deep understanding of the Financial Conduct Authority Handbook, particularly Consumer Credit sourcebook, Principles for Businesses (including Consumer Duty), Senior Management Arrangements, Systems and Controls, and Dispute Resolution
  • Familiarity with Payment Services Regulations
  • Understanding of savings and protection products
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as ICA or CISI are preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to clearly explain complex regulatory topics to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing relationships with the Financial Conduct Authority, including supervisory interactions and regulatory reviews

Our client provides a financial wellbeing platform, helping individuals better manage their money, reduce debt and build long-term savings. They are seeking a Compliance Manager to join their team on a fixed-term contract, with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate. Reporting to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, the Compliance Manager will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the firm’s compliance strategy. This is a high-impact position suited to a pragmatic and technically strong compliance professional who is comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels. The role will build on an established compliance framework supporting multiple Financial Conduct Authority authorisations across consumer credit and payment services.

About You

Immediately available or available to start at short notice

Experience in consumer credit compliance

Strong background in financial crime, including anti-money laundering

Deep understanding of the Financial Conduct Authority Handbook, particularly Consumer Credit sourcebook, Principles for Businesses (including Consumer Duty), Senior Management Arrangements, Systems and Controls, and Dispute Resolution

Familiarity with Payment Services Regulations

Understanding of savings and protection products

Relevant professional qualifications such as ICA or CISI are preferred, or equivalent experience

Ability to clearly explain complex regulatory topics to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences
