Summary: The Community Safety Project Officer will support the Bexley Community Safety Partnership (BCSP) in fulfilling its statutory obligations and enhancing operational delivery through effective strategies and policies. This role involves assisting the Senior Community Safety Co-ordinator with meetings and developing processes within the Community Safety Team, as well as identifying funding opportunities. The position requires office presence at least two days a week and is fixed-term until March 31, 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable the BCSP to operate in accordance with statutory obligations.
  • Lead and deliver responses to operational delivery, strategies, policies, plans, and protocols.
  • Assist with the smooth running of BCSP Board and Delivery Group meetings.
  • Support the development of working practices and processes within the Community Safety Team.
  • Identify external funding streams and assist in income generation applications.

Key Skills:

  • A-level education or relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of community safety policies including Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014.
  • Experience in providing performance monitoring information to managers.
  • Understanding and experience in safeguarding procedures and policies.
  • Proven experience supporting community safety partners in multi-agency settings.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and budget monitoring.
  • Experience in producing clear communications including social media publications and newsletters.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with various professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while prioritizing workload.

To enable the Bexley Community Safety Partnership (BCSP) to operate in accordance with its statutory obligations and lead and deliver robust responses to operational delivery, strategies, policies, plans and protocols relevant to the work of the BCSP and the Community Safety team. To support the Senior Community Safety Co-ordinator (Strategy) by assisting with the smooth running of the BCSP Board and Delivery Group meetings as well as the development of working practices and processes within the Community Safety Team. To identify external funding streams and support the application of income generation. Please refer to the Job Description attached for more information. Fixed term until 31st March 2027 Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be office based at least 2 days a week. Location: Bexley Civic Offices. Candidate Profile A -level education or relevant professional qualification of similar level or equivalent experience. An understanding of current community safety policies including Crime and Disorder Act 1998, ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014 and other associated legislation. Experience in providing information to Managers on monitoring performance and presenting information that is accurate, timely and relevant. Understanding and experience in Safeguarding procedures and policies and implementing them. Ability to share best practice and confidence to support other professionals providing clear and concise information. Proven experience supporting community safety partners in multi-agency settings such as meetings Knowledge and experience of using financial systems and monitoring budgets. Experience in producing clear concise communications including publications on social media, Press releases and Newsletters. Experience of gathering and collating information using a variety of methods and to a variety of differing audiences Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with varying levels of professionals across various organisations. Ability to work independently, as part of a team and prioritise and organise workload.
