Summary: The Community Safety Officer role at Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service focuses on enhancing community safety through the implementation of prevention strategies and initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the implementation and delivery of SFRS’s Prevention, Partnership and Safeguarding Annual Service Delivery Plan.
- Conduct Home Fire Safety Visits and work with vulnerable individuals through case management.
- Gather evidence and implement solutions to support community members.
- Collaborate with crews, volunteers, and partners to plan and deliver effective outcomes.
- Increase community engagement and integrate prevention priorities into activities.
- Deliver and coordinate prevention initiatives and support evaluation processes.
- Monitor incident demand to inform future prevention activities.
- Operate administration systems for referrals and represent SFRS at partnership meetings.
- Conduct fire safety interventions and support training delivery for staff.

About The Opportunity An opportunity has become available for the position of Community Safety Officer within the Western Service Delivery Group (Codsall Fire Station). This is an exciting opportunity to help make Staffordshire a safer place to be.
About The Role The aim of the role is to contribute to the implementation and effective delivery of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s (SFRS) Prevention, Partnership and Safeguarding Annual Service Delivery Plan, SFRS Prevention, Partnership and Safeguarding Strategy and SFRS Road Safety Delivery Plan.
Duties Include: (see full job description attached)
- Focus on wider prevention delivery and on specifics such as extended Home Fire Safety Visits. This will include working with vulnerable individuals through case management and extended visits. This could involve taking the lead and chairing meetings in relation to fire related concerns.
- Gather evidence, record, and implement solutions to support members of our community.
- Work alongside crews, volunteers, and partners to plan and deliver outcomes in an effective manner.
- Increase the effectiveness of community engagement within local areas.
- Be aware of prevention priorities and integrate these into all prevention activity.
- Deliver and co-ordinate prevention initiatives on a range of topics, together with partners where required, as determined by the Prevent Delivery Lead and Central Prevent and Protect.
- Following the delivery of initiatives by Prevention teams, support the evaluation, feedback, and delivery outcome process.
- Monitor the demand of incidents to enable informed decisions to be taken on future prevention activity.
- Operate administration systems for the referral of concerns highlighted by technicians and operational crews, including recording and monitoring.
- Represent SFRS at partnership meetings to promote prevention activities and share best practice/data, as commensurate with the role.
- Carry out fire safety interventions when required, visiting children and young people who have been flagged as fire setters.
- Support the delivery of prevention training to all staff, including at WT and On Call training courses.
- Conducting Fire Safety Interventions as required.
Person Specification You should have excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills. The ideal candidate should have experience of delivering and presenting to varied audiences, and have the ability to use intelligence and data to drive initiatives. A full Driving Licence is essential and candidates should have access to own vehicle with suitable business use insurance. Previous experience of Community Safety initiatives, working with key partners, and with vulnerable people, would be advantageous. On call personnel wishing to apply, must ensure any revised declaration is approved by their Station Manager prior to submitting their application. HR will require confirmation from the Station Manager via email before considering the application.
