This pivotal role requires an enthusiastic person with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to champion the needs of the SCD community across Greater Manchester.You'll be the Bridge:Connecting the Dots: Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with people living with SCD, charities, faith groups, schools, and healthcare providers, (working from the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre Manchester and remotely).Building Trust: Become the trusted face of Sickle Cell Care Manchester.Empowering Volunteers: Recruit, train, and guide a dedicated volunteer team, equipping them to offer vital emotional, practical, and advocacy support to people experiencing pain crises.You're the Changemaker:Self-Directed and Driven: Independently manage projects and initiatives (14 hours per week) on a flexible schedule, seeking ways to improve and expand our reach within the SCD community. This may include some evenings and weekends to accommodate outreach activities and volunteer support.A Passion for Change: You're a social justice champion, deeply committed to enhancing the lives of those living with SCD.Voice for Awareness: You'll raise awareness about SCD, identifying training needs for professionals who encounter individuals with this condition and helping the SCCM team to design innovative training programmes for busy professionals.Thriving in this Role:Proven experience in community engagement and development (min. 2 years).Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.A relevant qualification in community development, social care, or a related field.A passion for social justice and a commitment to improving the lives of those living with SCD.The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.Valid UK Driver's License and Access to a Car: This role requires travel within Greater Manchester to connect with community organisations and support volunteers.If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!
