Key Responsibilities:
- Independently run pre- and post-operative diagnostic clinics.
- Support patients throughout their journey with CHEC and report any concerns.
- Prepare all areas and documents prior to clinics.
- Conduct pre-examination diagnostics, including intraocular pressures, OCT scans, and visual acuities.
- Instill eyedrops and monitor blood pressure, temperature, and blood glucose levels.
- Support hospital diagnostic clinics as required.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Optical Assistant to join us as we continue to expand throughout the UK.
About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Assistant to join our community team. Our community clinics are based locally in GP surgeries, or mobile units. This allows us to see patients more locally in the community for their appointments, making their appointments accessible for them.
As an Optical Assistant, in a community clinic, the successful candidate will independently run your own clinics by performing diagnostic tests on the patients, providing high quality, easily accessible ophthalmology care in the area. Our diagnostic tests include, 2D and 3D scans of the back of the eye, taking measurements of the eye pressure, checking patients’ peripheral visions, and checking their visions on the reading charts. The successful candidate will have full training with our clinical team on all aspects of the role.
Once Trained You Will Be Able Too
- Independently run pre- and post-operative diagnostic clinics
- Support patients throughout their journey with CHEC and report any concerns.
- Prepare all areas, and documents prior to your clinics
