Summary: The role of Community Neurology Specialist Nurse focuses on providing expert care for patients with Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis within a collaborative framework between Essex Partnership University NHS Trust and Princess Alexandra NHS Trust. The nurse will be responsible for developing and implementing a community service that ensures high-quality clinical care, patient education, and support. This position also involves driving service development and working closely with various healthcare teams to enhance patient outcomes. Candidates should have experience in neurology nursing and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work jointly with Princess Alexandra NHS Trust Neurology Team to ensure seamless patient service.
  • Assess, manage, plan, and implement tailored treatment for patients with Parkinson’s Disease/MS.
  • Maintain patient caseload, including triage and discharging patients when appropriate.
  • Develop and evaluate care plans for symptom management in collaboration with patients.
  • Support patients in self-managing their conditions and knowing when to seek help.
  • Participate in service development and multidisciplinary decision-making regarding treatments.
  • Involve service users in providing feedback for service improvement.

Key Skills:

  • Experience as a Band 7 Specialist Nurse in Parkinson’s Disease/MS or Band 6 nurses aspiring to specialize.
  • Strong clinical assessment and management skills in neurology.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate care plans effectively.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Experience in service development and audit processes.
  • Collaborative working skills with multidisciplinary teams.
