Summary: The role of Community Mental Health Practitioner involves providing outpatient mental health services to Ministry of Defence personnel at HMS Nelson DCMH in Portsmouth. The practitioner will deliver therapeutic interventions, conduct mental health assessments, and maintain clinical records while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team. This locum position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week and emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practices in mental health care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient occupationally focused community mental health services.
  • Organise and deliver therapeutic interventions and mental health promotion initiatives.
  • Conduct initial mental health assessments and reviews for referred personnel.
  • Manage an identified caseload and develop individual treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and clinical notes of client contact.
  • Provide reports and liaise with Medical Officers, General Practitioners, and other agencies.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and departmental meetings.
  • Lead initiatives as directed by the Clinical Lead or Department Manager.
  • Engage in Health Governance activities and lead audits as directed.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions based on NICE and NTA guidance.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in adult mental health services and community mental health settings.
  • Knowledge of NICE recommended psychological interventions for common mental disorders.
  • Registered psychotherapist with accreditation in NICE recognised modalities (if applicable).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support, Anaphylaxis, AED, and Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mental health role.
  • Current personal medical indemnity insurance.
  • Certification in Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to Level 3.
