Summary: The Community ASB Officer role involves addressing anti-social behaviour issues in Harrow, Northwest London, by coordinating effective responses and educating the public. The officer will provide expert advice, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation while building relationships with stakeholders. The position also includes leading initiatives and contributing to policy development related to anti-social behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional, expert, and up-to-date technical advice to residents, businesses, Members, and key stakeholders.
- Issue letters, notices, legal documents, formal cautions, warnings, and other documents as required by legislation, guidance, and policies.
- Keep abreast of legislative, technical, and professional developments in relation to anti-social behaviour legislation and policy.
- Carry out investigations, instigate and prepare prosecutions, attend court proceedings, and deliver evidence in statutory actions for breaches.
- Ensure full compliance with established legal procedures and legislation relevant to the preservation of evidence and court procedures.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence best practice approaches.
- Advise councillors, managers, and senior officers on relevant legislation.
- Exercise professional judgement in contentious or legal cases to protect the community's interests.
- Participate in and lead on publicity campaigns and customer service improvement plans.
- Investigate service requests and complaints from domestic and commercial premises, taking appropriate enforcement actions.
- Recognise risks and impacts on individuals and the community, making clear decisions and taking relevant actions.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, policies, and statutory plans related to anti-social behaviour.
