Summary: A Test Systems Commissioning Engineer is needed for a 6-month project in the West Midlands, focusing on the commissioning of complex test machinery for safety-critical systems. The role involves system integration, verification, and validation within a high-technology engineering environment. The engineer will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Immediate start is required, with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commission complex test systems for use within an engineering production facility
- Support and technically lead machinery assembly activities performed by technicians and external suppliers
- Act as the interface between Design Engineering and assembly teams to resolve build and integration issues
- Execute system integration followed by formal verification testing, driving resolution of any non-compliance
- Support customer validation activities, including correlation testing where applicable
- Complete, approve and release commissioning and verification documentation aligned to the as-built condition
- Support creation and release of calibration procedures and identify required equipment
- Coordinate facility readiness including electrical, hydraulic and utility services
- Deliver end-user training and contribute to operating and maintenance documentation
- Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety requirements at all times
Key Skills:
- Proven experience commissioning complex test equipment or industrial machinery
- Hands-on experience with closed-loop control systems (servo-hydraulic and/or electromechanical)
- Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines
- Background in aerospace, automotive, defence, rail or other regulated engineering sectors
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced commissioning and production environments
- Engineering degree or equivalent time-served experience (desirable)
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, including verification & validation (desirable)
- Familiarity with engineering or requirements management tools (desirable)
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills (desirable)

Overview - Commissioning Engineer - Test Equipment
A Test Systems Commissioning Engineer is required to support a significant programme of new test equipment deployment within a high-technology engineering environment. The role focuses on commissioning complex test machinery used for qualification and production acceptance testing of safety-critical systems.
Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will take responsibility for system integration, verification and validation through to operational handover.
