Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on commercial technology, IT, telecommunications, digital regulation, and data matters.
- Manage high-value digital transformation projects and outsourcing arrangements.
- Draft and negotiate software and systems agreements, technology commercialisation projects, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Provide guidance on data protection and privacy issues, including GDPR compliance.
- Build and maintain client relationships while leading matters with appropriate supervision.
Key Skills:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales or a comparable common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years’ PQE.
- Strong experience in commercial contracts, particularly in technology, IT, telecommunications, and data protection.
- Experience in a leading law firm or in-house within a relevant sector.
- Excellent drafting and pragmatic advisory skills.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to start immediately or at short notice.

We are currently working with a leading international law firm that is looking to bring on board a Commercial Technology & Media Senior Associate for a 12-month fixed-term contract. Based in London, the role offers the opportunity to join a highly regarded team advising on some of the most significant technology, digital transformation and regulatory projects in the market. The firm operates a hybrid working policy, requiring 3 days per week in the office.
The team acts for a broad range of clients, from global technology providers and multinational organisations through to high-growth scale-ups and innovative businesses operating at the cutting edge of technology. Matters frequently have an international dimension and span sectors including technology, communications, financial services, energy, retail and the public sector.
Successful candidates can expect to advise on a broad mix of commercial technology, IT, telecommunications, digital regulation and data matters. The work includes high-value digital transformation projects, outsourcing arrangements, software and systems agreements, technology commercialisation projects, and emerging regulatory issues relating to areas such as AI, cyber security, cloud services and digital infrastructure. There will also be exposure to data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR compliance projects.
Applicants are likely to be able to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales, or another comparable common law jurisdiction.
- Ideally upwards of 5 years’ PQE.
- Strong experience advising on commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to technology, IT, telecommunications, digital regulation, cyber security, data protection or related areas.
- Experience gained within a leading City, regional or international law firm, or in-house within a relevant sector.
- Excellent drafting skills and the ability to provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
- Confidence in managing client relationships and leading matters with appropriate supervision.
- Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills, coupled with a collaborative approach.
- The ability to start a new role immediately or at short notice.
