Summary: The role of Commercial Finance Analyst involves supporting a group of start-up businesses over a five-month contract by establishing financial foundations and robust financial models. Key Responsibilities:
- Model Build Support: assisting founders in building and refining financial models, budgets, and forecasts.
- Reporting Set-Up: establishing reporting structures that yield useful management information.
- Scenario Planning: creating base, upside, and downside cases, along with cash runway views and decision triggers.
- KPI Design: identifying essential KPIs for business models and growth stages.
- Unit Economics Analysis: analyzing margin, CAC/LTV, break-even points, and commercial performance drivers.
- Pitch Deck Numbers: translating model outputs into clear metrics and financial narratives for investor presentations.
- Session and Surgery Support: preparing for finance masterclasses and model reviews.
- Tools and Admin Support: ensuring records are maintained for financial due diligence during investment raises.
- Final Output Support: providing founders with credible models, KPI dashboards, and finance setups.

Commercial Finance Analyst – Responsibilities
- Finance Support
- Model Build Support: helping founders build and refine working financial models, budgets and forecasts from assumptions through to outputs
- Reporting Set-Up: helping founders set up the reporting structures that produce useful management information
- Scenario Planning: helping founders turn plans into base, upside and downside cases, cash runway views and clear decision triggers
- Commercial Analysis
- KPI Design: helping identify the 5-10 KPIs that genuinely matter for business model and stages of growth business model and stage of growth
- Unit Economics Analysis: helping founders work through margin, CAC/LTV, break-even and the commercial drivers behind performance
- Pitch Deck Numbers: helping translate model outputs into clear charts, metrics and financial storylines for decks and investor conversations
- Programme Support
- Session and Surgery Support: preparing pre-work and follow-up for finance masterclasses, working sessions and model reviews
- Tools and Admin Support: supporting founder onboarding, ensuring all records saved and up to date in Founder Vault ready for financial due diligence as part of the investment raise
- Final Output Support: helping each founder leave with a credible model, KPI dashboard, finance set-up and numbers they can explain with confidence
