Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full caseload of commercial contracts and procurement matters.
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including construction and service contracts.
  • Provide legal advice on contract disputes and public procurement issues.
  • Support multidisciplinary corporate projects, offering advice on governance and legal risk.
  • Advise senior officers and elected members on a variety of legal and regulatory matters.
  • Handle data protection and FOI matters in relation to contracts and general governance.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) in England & Wales with a current practising certificate.
  • Previous experience working within a local government legal team.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, procurement law, and public sector governance.
  • Familiarity with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Comfortable managing a varied caseload and providing clear advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Able to attend the office 2 days per week as part of a hybrid working arrangement.

Salary (Rate): 55.00
