Summary: The Cockpit Test & Development Lead Engineer position involves coordinating the development, testing, and verification of new systems within the cockpit system for a luxury automotive OEM in Gaydon. The role requires managing test plans, ensuring compliance with client standards, and interfacing with the Cockpit Module Leader. This is a contract position classified as inside IR35, with a focus on long-term project involvement. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in project teams and a solid understanding of engineering standards and test procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development, testing, and verification of new systems and components into the Cockpit system.
- Use the Client's systems to manage the test plan progression through to sign-off.
- Ensure all appropriate Client standards are met throughout design maturation.
- Set up the test and development plan for several new cockpit programmes.
- Manage RMDV (the Clients' management tracking system) deck for respective programmes, setting and cascading targets to relevant areas.
- Create and update Bill of Materials for test parts.
- Obtain quotes from suppliers and test houses to complete the plan and liaise with the value for money team for approval.
- Prepare parts for testing, evaluate results, resolve problems, write reports, and file back to RMDV.
- Daily interface/programme communication with the Cockpit Module Leader.
Key Skills:
- Previous experience resolving business, technical, and process issues within a Project Team environment.
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
- Good understanding of the Digi buck and Design Verification processes.
- Understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures.

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM based in Gaydon who are seeking a Cockpit Test & Development Lead Engineer to join their team on a long term rolling basis
Job Description
- The purpose of this role is to coordinate the development, testing and verification of new systems and components or commodities into the Cockpit system.
- The role requires the individual to use the Client's systems to set up and manage the test plan progression through to sign-off.
- Checking all appropriate Client standards are met through-out design maturation
- Setting up the test and development plan for several new cockpit programmes
- Managing RMDV (the Clients' management tracking system) deck for respective programmes, setting and cascading targets to relevant areas.
- Creating and updating Bill of Materials for test parts
- Obtaining quotes from suppliers and test houses to complete plan and liaising with value for money team to gain approval.
- Preparing parts for testing, evaluating results, resolving any problems arising, writing reports and filing back to RMDV.
- Daily interface / programme communication will be to the Cockpit Module Leader.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience of resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred
- A good understanding of the Digi buck and Design Verification processes are required
- An understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures
