CNC Setter/Operator

Summary: The CNC Setter/Operator role in Crewkerne involves setting and operating sliding head machines within the Citizen department for a duration of 12 months. The position emphasizes adherence to health and safety standards, quality control, and accurate data recording. The operator will be responsible for ensuring efficient machining processes and maintaining tooling and inspection records. This role requires active participation in a High Performing Team and a commitment to continuous improvement in operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and maintain 5S standards.
• Follow works orders and tooling/setup sheets to set sliding head CNC machines.
• Complete works orders according to the Kanban system and report issues to the line manager.
• Undertake in-cycle deburring and change inserts/drills as necessary.
• Accurately record output and scrap rates.
• Perform dimensional inspections of components using inspection equipment.
• Keep tooling sheets and programs updated.
• Identify alternative tooling solutions and collaborate with the cell leader.
• Participate in the High Performing Team (HPT) initiatives.
• Ensure appropriate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is conducted.

Key Skills:

• Experience in setting and operating CNC machines, specifically sliding head machines.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and 5S standards.
• Ability to read and interpret works orders and tooling/setup sheets.
