CNC Operator

Summary: The Skilled CNC Operator at Dover Precision Components will operate CNC machining centres to produce customized designs from various materials, focusing on high-mix fluid-film bearings and seals for industrial applications. This role requires a strong background in CNC operations, particularly in turning, and involves working on a rotating shift pattern. The position is offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract with a competitive salary and additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC machine tools, primarily lathes for turning operations.
• Locate and download programs from a DNC storage system.
• Calculate proper feeds and speeds for various materials.
• Perform quality inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve productivity.
• Box and prepare final products for shipment.
• Maintain and ensure the functionality of machinery and tooling.

Key Skills:

• HNC or SVQ/NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machine tools.
• Proficient in CNC turning operations with lathes.
• Experience with machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, or Haas.
• Ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .0025mm.
• Familiarity with precision inspection equipment.
• Experience in power generation, oil & gas, or aerospace environments is preferred.
