Summary: The Cloud Platform Engineer role is a hands-on position focused on delivering secure, cloud-first infrastructure within the defence and security sector. The engineer will be responsible for critical platform components, including CI/CD, container orchestration, and observability. This position requires strong SRE and DevOps skills, with an emphasis on automation and collaboration with development teams. The role is hybrid, primarily office-based in Farnborough, with an initial contract duration of six months and outside IR35 status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or similar)
- Configuring Kubernetes clusters for secure, scalable deployments
- Building automation across infrastructure provisioning and testing
- Implementing monitoring and alerting (eg, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Managing repositories and version control (Git)
- Driving SRE practices around performance, resilience, and supportability
- Working closely with dev teams to integrate platform tooling into workflows
- Supporting infrastructure security, maintainability and scalability initiatives
Key Skills:
- 5+ years in platform/SRE/DevOps roles
- Strong Kubernetes experience (config and deployment)
- Deep CI/CD experience - Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or similar
- Skilled with infra observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Confident with Git and repo management workflows
- Strong automation mindset - reducing manual intervention wherever possible
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Must be a sole UK national and have current SC

There are long contract opportunities and a large pipeline of work. These are outside IR35 and likely to be office based in Farnborough a max of 1-2 days per week, but mainly on a needs-must basis.
