Summary: The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role involves supporting a professional membership body in the financial sector during its transition to a cloud-first infrastructure. The position focuses on designing, implementing, and managing secure cloud environments primarily using Azure and AWS. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to migrate workloads and ensure compliance with security protocols. This is a fixed-term contract based in London with a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and execute the migration of on-premises workloads to cloud platforms in collaboration with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Configure and maintain cloud resources including virtual machines, storage, virtual networks, firewalls, and databases.
  • Implement and manage endpoint tools such as Intune, MDM, and Apple School Manager to maintain compliance and security.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity teams to apply security protocols and conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Modernise and migrate workloads to IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS to enhance system performance and availability.
  • Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code using tools like ARM templates, Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, and CLI.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, support incident resolution, and assist in disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure effective communication with internal and external parties.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in cloud infrastructure roles with a strong focus on Azure and AWS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) are preferred.
  • Proficiency in integrating cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Familiar with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experienced in mobile device/application management.
