Summary: The Cloud Engineer role focuses on delivering secure and efficient cloud solutions as part of an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program. The position requires collaboration with the Platform team to support software engineers and ensure optimized infrastructure delivery across multiple projects. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring platform performance and security while implementing best practices in DevOps, SecOps, and FinOps. The role emphasizes the importance of documentation and continuous improvement in cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and document platform configuration for automation and shared tooling.
  • Monitor platform security, stability, scalability, connectivity, cost, and performance, acting on findings.
  • Develop and document improvements in platform tools following agile development processes.
  • Ensure security standards and AWS architectural recommendations are integrated into deployments.
  • Investigate and manage administration of new tools and processes for platform support.
  • Provide platform support on technical challenges across multiple teams, documenting designs and processes.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Key Skills:

  • At least 10 years of public cloud experience.
  • Technical support background.
  • Experience in DevOps, FinOps, and SecOps in cloud environments.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and New Relic.
  • Experience in alert writing and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with key AWS services including Security Hub, Trusted Advisor, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience in systems administration across a multi-service environment.
  • Understanding of AWS Best Practices and Well-Architected Framework.
  • Knowledge of AWS pricing models.
  • Experience in network design principles and implementation in AWS.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Terraform, and Typescript.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
