Summary: This position is for a Clinical Teaching Fellow with a 50:50 split between undergraduate medical education and a clinical role in Gastroenterology at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver teaching to year 4 medical students in haematology, infectious diseases, and gastroenterology.
  • Act as an examiner in UCL medical school exams.
  • Organise and deliver UCL medical school assessments with Barnet clinical teaching fellows.
  • Provide support to medical students at Barnet Hospital during term time.
  • Maintain core clinical skills while engaging in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in gastroenterology at IMT3 level is desired.

We are pleased to advertise a new and exciting position for a teaching fellow with a 50:50 split between undergraduate medical education and a clinical role in Gastroenterology based at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals. This is a 12-month post starting in September 2026.

The aim of the undergraduate education role centres around the development and delivery of teaching to year 4 medical students undertaking haematology, infectious diseases and gastroenterology with support from the module leads. There are shared educational duties such as but not limited to being an examiner in UCL medical school exams and helping to organise and deliver UCL medical school assessments with a network of Barnet clinical teaching fellows. Fellows are also expected to provide support to medical students in Barnet Hospital during term time when not scoping at Chase Farm Hospital. The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is a central University College London (UCL) Medical School campus that teaches hundreds of medical students, at all stages of learning, every year across Barnet, Chase Farm and the Royal Free Hospitals.

This role will suit enthusiastic and motivated Gastroenterology trainees with an interest in education and will provide excellent clinical and educational experience for the progression of a career within Gastroenterology. It is a new and flexible post which offers the opportunity to be involved with undergraduate teaching, curriculum development and student assessment, while also maintaining core clinical skills. Minimum Experience in gastroenterology at IMT3 level is desired although candidates without prior experience may also be considered.
