Summary: A Clearing Compliance Specialist is sought by a rapidly growing energy trading and derivatives firm in London to enhance its clearing and post-trade infrastructure. The role involves ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management while collaborating with various teams. The successful candidate will provide expertise in exchange-traded and cleared OTC derivatives and help establish scalable controls and governance frameworks. This position is critical for supporting the firm's expansion and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compliance oversight and advisory support across futures, options, and cleared OTC derivatives activities.
- Manage and support relationships with clearing brokers, clearing members, CCPs, and exchanges, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and obligations.
- Monitor adherence to clearing requirements, including margin methodologies, collateral management, default management frameworks, and regulatory obligations.
- Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments relating to clearing arrangements, segregation models, client asset protections, and operational processes.
- Support onboarding and due diligence processes for clearing counterparties, brokers, and service providers.
- Assist with regulatory reporting, audits, and responses to regulatory inquiries relating to clearing activities.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain clearing-related policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
- Partner closely with Operations, Trading, Risk, Treasury, and Legal teams to resolve clearing and post-trade issues efficiently.
- Support strategic initiatives involving new products, exchanges, clearing relationships, and market access arrangements.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of experience within clearing compliance, clearing operations, market infrastructure, or post-trade risk functions.
- Strong knowledge of major clearing houses and CCPs, including ICE Clear Europe, CME Clearing, LCH, or equivalent global clearing venues.
- Deep understanding of clearing regulations and market infrastructure frameworks, including EMIR, Dodd-Frank, CFTC requirements, and relevant FCA regulations.
- Experience with client clearing models, give-up arrangements, segregation structures, margining frameworks, and collateral management processes.
- Strong understanding of derivatives markets, including futures, options, and OTC cleared products.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, highly regulated trading environments.
