An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Inquests and Claims Manager to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the Trust’s approach to managing inquests and claims, working closely with HM Coroner’s Office, NHS Resolution and external legal representatives.

As a key member of the team, you will ensure robust coordination of legal processes, promote organisational learning from inquests and claims, and support continuous improvement in quality, safety and governance across the Trust

Lead the management of all inquests connected to the Trust, liaising with HM Coroner’s Officers from the point of request to inquest conclusion. This will involve the management of multiple complex cases at any one moment in time.

Leading a team responsible for identifying colleagues who are likely to have information and knowledge which would be material and useful to the Trust in the conduct of the inquest.

Lead the management of all claims against the Trust, working with NHS Resolution to resolve these in a timely manner. This will involve the management of multiple complex claims cases at any one moment in time.

Ensure that you are aware of the status of all claims, and the competing priorities of these.

Be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the Claims and Inquest Team, including administrator and paralegal staff.

Manage the team budget in line with standing financial instructions, lead budget setting for the area and report variances in line with budget management principles.

Monitor and report financial settlements arising from claims, providing regular reports to senior managers within the Trust, and external partners.

Be responsible for the management and coordination of multiple programmes and project across the Trust.
