Summary: The Scottish Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Training Scheme (SMPCETS) is seeking candidates with a First- or Second-Class Honours Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering for a 3.5-year training program in Medical Physics or Clinical Engineering. Successful applicants will be employed by NHS Lothian, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Grampian, or NHS Highland, and will receive funding for postgraduate training while working towards registration as a Clinical Scientist. The program includes scientific rotations and the opportunity to study for an IPEM accredited MSc degree. Applications are open until February 21, 2025, with interviews scheduled for May 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Medical Physics or Clinical Engineering training program.
- Engage in scientific rotations and acquaintanceships to build a portfolio for registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- Study for an IPEM accredited MSc degree in Medical Physics or Clinical Engineering during the first year.
- Complete hospital-based rotations in subsequent years based on the nominated NHS Scotland Health Board.
