Summary: A leading UK infrastructure-engineering firm is seeking a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer for its Aberdeen team, focusing on high-impact brownfield modification projects in the petrochemical sector. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary representative to both the client and senior internal stakeholders for civil and structural engineering services
- Lead and coordinate a team of engineers and designers across brownfield modification projects
- Maintain high technical standards and ensure quality across all civil and structural deliverables
- Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget compliance
- Present design concepts and progress to internal and external stakeholders
- Deliver value engineering solutions that balance cost, safety, and functionality
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
- Apply safety-by-design principles and support risk assessments
- Occasionally travel to other UK offices or client sites as needed
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE
- Extensive experience in civil/structural engineering within the petrochemical sector
- Strong understanding of industry standards and specifications within the energy sector
- Proficiency in the design of foundations, pipe supports and pipe racks/tracks, rotating equipment supports, drainage systems, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and temporary works
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Safety-first approach with the ability to assess and mitigate engineering risks
- UK driving license – essential
- Desirable: Offshore project experience, knowledge of temporary works coordination and design
