Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards and specifications.
  • Experience inspecting earthworks, foundations, piling, drainage, and structural steel erection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of quality inspection processes and independence from construction teams.
  • Willingness to maintain a regular site presence during active construction phases.
  • Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction is desirable.

Role Overview
Conduct independent quality inspections and surveillance of civil and structural works in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and construction programmes. Provide proactive routine site surveillance during active construction to identify quality issues early, ensuring compliance with project standards and preventing costly rework. Perform reactive inspections in response to contractor Notifications of Inspection (NOI) / Requests for Inspection (RFIs). Verify that works are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards. Participate in pre-construction inspections to confirm readiness of works, including verification of materials, equipment, permits, and approved documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable UK standards and project requirements including BS EN standards, Design Codes, CDM Regulations, and relevant industry guidance. Verify correct implementation of testing regimes including compaction testing, concrete testing, slump tests, concrete cube testing, pile integrity testing, and structural inspections. Accurately record inspection results, surveillance findings, and test outcomes in project quality records. Review and verify contractor quality documentation including test results, material certificates, delivery records, and as-built information relevant to civils and structures. Identify and report non-conforming works through the project NCR process and support investigation implementation of corrective actions.

Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Civils, structural and architecture QC Inspector on EPC or EPCm construction projects within the UK or equivalent regulations. Strong practical knowledge of civil structural and architecture construction practices and inspection techniques. Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards and specifications including BS EN standards, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) specifications, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations. Experience inspecting earthworks, foundations, piling, drainage, and structural steel erection. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Understanding of quality inspection processes and the importance of maintaining independence from construction teams. Willingness to maintain a regular site presence during active construction phases. Education & Experience Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction is desirable. Level 2/3 Certificates/Diplomas in Civil Quality Control & Assurance (QC/QA) are advantageous.
