Summary: The Civil Design Engineer role focuses on the civil design aspects of substation projects, requiring collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance with client specifications and safety standards. The position allows for hybrid working arrangements, combining remote work with time spent at the Stafford office. The engineer will be responsible for producing detailed design documentation and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce detailed civil design drawings and documentation for substation projects up to 400kV.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to integrate civil and structural aspects into overall project designs.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to gather necessary data and assess project requirements.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations, including National Grid specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the construction phase to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
  • Review and approve contractor and supplier submissions related to civil design.
  • Manage and coordinate with external consultants and contractors as needed.
  • Prepare and present design reports, calculations, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in civil design and substation projects.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil design engineering, specifically within the context of substation projects up to 400kV.
  • Strong knowledge of substation layout, foundation design, drainage systems, and structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations, including those set by the National Grid.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment, managing time and tasks independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Salary (Rate): £55
