Summary: This role is for a Civil Engineer specializing in drainage and water design, offering a contract position for 6 months with hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary design team to deliver complex drainage and water management designs for major infrastructure projects across the UK. Key responsibilities include producing engineering calculations, coordinating design activities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The position is based in Birmingham, Bristol, or London, with a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering drainage and water management design solutions
- Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings and technical reports
- Developing designs for drainage systems, flood risk mitigation and SuDS
- Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulations and best practice
- Leading technically challenging aspects of drainage and civil engineering design
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
- Identifying and resolving design integration and constructability issues
- Assessing and managing technical design risks
- Conducting site visits, inspections and technical investigations
- Supporting the delivery of sustainable and technically robust engineering solutions
Key Skills:
- Proven experience working as a Civil Engineer within infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Strong experience in drainage design, SuDS and flood risk management
- Experience producing engineering calculations, reports and technical drawings
- Knowledge of drainage modelling and water management systems
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Experience working on large infrastructure or civil engineering projects would be advantageous
