Summary: The Civil Design Engineer role focuses on delivering water and wastewater infrastructure design projects for Scottish Water and its partners, primarily based in Glasgow, Scotland. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design engineer on small to medium size projects, coordinating multi-discipline design teams and client interfaces.
- Create outline and detailed designs, along with construction-ready documentation.
- Generate design calculations, reports, drawings, and other deliverables.
- Provide technical decisions at key design stages for water and wastewater utility projects.
- Interact with clients to understand their specific needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with contractors, supply chain, and project stakeholders.
- Oversee or manage design staff and mentor junior team members.
- Support the coordination of environmental, geotechnical, civil, or other specialist disciplines.
- Maintain up-to-date technical and industry knowledge.
Key Skills:
- Experience in civil engineering with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Demonstrable experience in hydraulic design of water pipelines, sewers, and pump stations.
- Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working towards it.
- Good understanding of CDM regulations and relevant British Standards.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
