Summary: My client is seeking a Cisco TAC Engineer for a hybrid role based in Cheshire. The position involves advanced incident and problem resolution, supporting multiple enterprise customers in a global MSP environment. The role is classified as inside IR35 and offers a negotiable daily rate. The contract duration is 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Incident & Problem Resolution: Act as Tier-3/4 escalation for complex customer incidents across Cisco routing, switching, and security platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VRF, EVPN/VXLAN), switching (STP, VTP, VLANs, LACP, Spine-Leaf fabrics), security (Firewalls, VPN/IPsec, ISE, AAA), wireless (WLC, APs, 802.11 standards), and SD-WAN/SASE environments.
  • Perform deep packet inspection, debug analysis, config audits, and system log reviews.
  • Support multiple enterprise customers in a 24/7 global MSP environment.
  • Own escalated incidents and ensure SLA compliance and communication.
  • Conduct proactive configuration reviews, compliance checks, and platform tuning.
  • Support network onboarding, migrations, life cycle upgrades, and change design.
  • Liaise with Cisco TAC and engineering teams for defect escalation and complex issues.
  • Handle P1/critical outages, providing technical leadership on bridge calls.
  • Deliver detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and service improvement actions.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in Cisco routing, switching, and security platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VRF, EVPN/VXLAN, STP, VTP, VLANs, LACP, and firewalls.
  • Experience with deep packet inspection and debug analysis.
  • Ability to manage incidents in a multi-tenant MSP environment.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with customers and vendors.
  • Experience in conducting configuration reviews and compliance checks.
  • Technical leadership in critical outage situations.
