Summary: The Cisco SME role involves supporting a large government project by facilitating remote installations of Cisco Firepower devices. The candidate will work under the guidance of a technical team lead and engage with Fujitsu service teams to ensure effective hardware support. The position requires a strong knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The role is based in Birmingham and requires on-site presence for most of the week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support remote installations of Cisco Firepower devices and onboard to Cisco vFMC.
- Engage with Fujitsu service teams for effective hardware support.
- Work collaboratively within a team and develop positive relationships with project teams.
- Communicate clearly with peers, management, and customers.
- Implement solutions with minimal supervision and report issues with recommendations.
- Be onsite 4/5 days a week to access the Production environment.
- Be flexible with working hours for implementations outside normal hours.
Key Skills:
- Good working knowledge of LAN Switching technologies, including Cisco Switch platform and Cisco IOS.
- Good knowledge of WAN routing, including MPLS, BGP, and ISIS.
- Ability to work well within a team and develop positive working relationships.
- Clear communication skills when interacting with peers, management, and customers.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working for large government customers.
- Positive can-do attitude.
- Self-starter capable of implementing solutions with minimal supervision.

Brief overview on the role/project:
Looking for a candidate to support a rollout for a large government project over a 9 month period. The candidate will be expected to support remote installations(Build & Configure Cisco Firepower devices and onboard to Cisco vFMC) into customer sites under the direction of a technical team lead. Engagement with Fujitsu service teams to ensure that new hardware is effectively taken into support
Mandatory skills:
- Good working knowledge of all LAN Switching technologies . This must include extensive knowledge of the Cisco Switch platform and Cisco IOS.
- Good knowledge of WAN routing , which must include MPLS, BGP, ISIS.
- Have the ability to work well within a team and develop a positive working relationship with other project teams.
- Have good and clear communications when interacting with peers, management, and customers.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working for large government customers.

- Self starter who can implement solutions with minimal supervision and can think through any issues and report back regarding issue and recommendation to fix.
- You will need to be onsite 4/5 days a week during the role duration to enable access to the Production environment
- Applicants may need to flexible in terms of hours worked because some implementations are likely outside normal working hours due to customer day to day activities
Desirable skills:
- Ideally the candidate has worked in a service provider environment with a minimum of history of operational support.
- Knowledge of Government Projects
