Summary: The Chassis Project Engineer - Wheels and Tyres will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and integration of wheel and tire systems into vehicle chassis. This role emphasizes optimizing performance, safety, and durability while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to manage projects from concept to production, focusing on the overall vehicle architecture. This position is offered on a contract basis with hybrid working arrangements in Leamington Spa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop wheel and tire systems, including selecting tire sizes, profiles, load ratings, and materials.
- Optimize wheel designs for strength, weight, and aesthetics while considering aerodynamics, cost, and manufacturability.
- Integrate wheels and tires into the chassis design, ensuring compatibility with suspension and braking systems.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source and develop new materials and technologies.
- Work with the vehicle dynamics team to enhance wheel and tire performance, including handling and stability.
- Conduct simulations and analyses to assess the impact of wheel and tire combinations on vehicle performance.
- Analyze the effects of tire pressure, tread patterns, and compounds on vehicle dynamics.
