Description & Requirements
On behalf of Sports England, we are looking for a Change and Transformation Project Manager (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract which is a hybrid role so does require occasional travel to either the London or Loughborough offices.
The Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of strategic organisational change and transformation programmes, initially supporting the Interim Director of Transformation with the delivery of Sport England's transformation and digital roadmap and developing and delivering its projects and programmes across the organisation.
Working across Sport England, the postholder will ensure effective governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management and programme coordination to deliver successful outcomes. The postholder will need to be digitally literate and experienced leading and working in digital delivery projects/programmes.
As a Change and Transformation Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of transformation and digital projects, ensuring objectives are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies and reporting mechanisms.
- Coordinate activity across People, Transformation and business teams to ensure programme activity remains aligned and on track and meets business needs.
- Monitor project progress and provide timely reporting, insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain effective governance arrangements, ensuring appropriate assurance, strategy-making and escalation processes.
- Support benefits realisation and post-implementation reviews to evaluate outcomes and identify lessons learned.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project and programme management approaches across the organisation
- Identify, monitor and manage programme risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring appropriate mitigating actions are implemented.
Essential Skills
Significant experience of managing complex projects or workstreams in transformation, digital or business improvement environments.
Strong project and programme management skills across waterfall and digital programmes – understanding how to bring the methodologies together for effective delivery.
Strong project and programme management skills across planning, governance, risk management, dependency management and reporting.
Experience working with senior stakeholders in complex organisational environments.
Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-support abilities.
Experience producing high-quality reports, papers and presentations for senior audiences.
Knowledge of recognised project and programme management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, Benefits Management, Change Management and Risk Management).
Desirable Skills
Experience of supporting large scale transformation programmes.
Deep understanding of change management.
Experience operating within public sector, arm's-length body, regulatory or similarly governed environments.
