Summary: The Category Buyer at Brompton is responsible for managing the mechanical parts category and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives. This role requires a mature and experienced buyer with technical knowledge of mechanical components, capable of interpreting engineering drawings and translating them into procurement requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up or improving category strategies
- Sourcing new mechanical parts and suppliers
- Negotiating the best prices, payment and delivery terms
- Contract management
- Supporting the new product development process together with Product Management, Design and Quality team
- Seeking and realizing cost saving opportunities
- Management of POs and deliveries for samples and tools
- Ensuring suppliers perform to Brompton’s satisfaction
- Managing good supplier relationships and internal stakeholders
- Visiting suppliers if required
- Representing the Category Buying team for internal meetings

The role
The Category Buyer role is responsible for managing the mechanical parts category and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI). The vision for this role is to deliver the best value to Brompton through forward-looking strategies, implemented via strong category management, NPI support, cost-saving initiatives, and resourcing projects. This is a critical category, and we are seeking a mature and experienced buyer with solid technical knowledge of mechanical components, who is able to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into clear procurement requirements.
