Key Responsibilities:
- Execute indirect purchasing for various categories, including canteen renovations and supplies.
- Support the execution of category strategy for tailored categories and manage supplier performance.
- Manage policies, agreements, source catalogues, and special purchasing programs.
- Identify opportunities for cost decreases, inventory reductions, and quality improvements.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and suppliers, ensuring clear communication.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an Indirect Buyer.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supply chain contracts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We’re looking for an Indirect Category Buyer for our client’s site in Desford; to use their procurement expertise to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services, for a globally renowned Fortune 100 off highway machinery manufacturer. What will the Category Buyer (Indirect) do?
- Indirect purchasing - one day you could be making purchases for the canteen renovation, the next you might be ordering paint. The work is varied, it’s a great opportunity to learn and have exposure and independence in the role.
- Support execution of category strategy for Tailored Categories and Develop and manage suppliers’ performance (QCLDM), support OPACC improvement agenda (OIA)
- Manage policies, agreements, source catalogues, and special purchasing programs
- Recognise the potential for cost decreases, inventory reductions and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
- Act as the liaison between the organization and the supplier to communicate information explicitly, while considering production demands and suppliers' conditions.
What skills and experience will the Category Buyer (Indirect) need?
Essential:
- 2 years minimum experience as an Indirect Buyer
- Negotiation skills; used to working with suppliers to manage supply chain - experience with contracts and negotiations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, positive outlook for a win/win resolution
- Keen and enthusiastic - personality will go a long way in this instance!
- Confident individual who can work from own initiative.
- Strategic thinker who also works towards teams’ objectives.
- Ability to prioritise work in a dynamic environment
- Strong Excel skills.
- Used to using Microsoft Office, Visio & purchasing systems Microsoft Office: in particular Teams, Outlook, Excel (Vlookup/Formulas), Powerpoint
Desirable:
