Summary: The Cash and Bank Finance Officer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is a full-time role on a 6-month fixed-term contract, focusing on treasury management and financial services across the organization. The position requires managing cash balances, foreign exchange, and various accounting duties while ensuring compliance with budget restrictions. The successful candidate will contribute to the finance team's mission of supporting global health initiatives through effective financial management. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement in a prestigious institution recognized for its impact on tropical medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain a report summarising cash balances across all companies and currencies on a monthly basis.
- Agree with the senior financial accountant on appropriate cash alert thresholds and notify senior leaders when thresholds are met.
- Produce a monthly treasury summary for the finance leadership team, including balances and recommendations for changes.
- Complete day-to-day banking entries for all companies and act as the key liaison with banking institutions.
- Correspond with external partners for foreign currency orders and reconcile currency received.
- Liaise with claimants to correct anomalies in foreign payment forms.
- Reconcile receipts against budget and maintain foreign exchange rates in LSTM’s finance system.
- Manage the corporate purchasing card and produce relevant reconciliations.
Key Skills:
- Previous experience of treasury duties.
- Experience dealing with multiple companies and currencies.
- Proven experience in financial reporting and processing complex reconciliations.
- Experience in completing VAT returns.
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English Language.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with internal and external agencies.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- An Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification is desirable.
