CAD TECHNICIAN — TEMPORARY (WITH POTENTIAL TO GO PERMANENT)

Location: Thatcham, Berkshire (RG19 4ZD) — On-site

Employment Type: Full-time, Temporary (approx. 12 weeks, with possible extension)

Pay: £20–£30 per hour, dependent on experience

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for an experienced CAD Technician to join our Design team on a temporary basis for approximately 12 weeks , with strong potential to extend longer term for the right person. Reporting to the Design Manager and working within a small, collaborative team, you'll take a hands-on role in producing and maintaining technical drawings for manufacture and assembly — primarily for extruded aluminium and sheet metal products that end up on streets across the UK. If you enjoy precise, detail-led design work and want to see your drawings translate directly into real-world infrastructure, this is a great fit.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Creating and modifying 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks
• Managing and filing data in line with PDM (Product Data Management) requirements
• Creating and updating Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the production department
• Interpreting Engineering Change and Quality department requests, and completing revision updates to production drawings and documentation
• Maintaining the Engineering Change Management (ECM) tracker
• Supporting the wider Design team with daily requests and design activity

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Essential

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D/2D CAD and SolidWorks PDM Standard (Vault)
• Experience with AutoCAD or a similar 2D CAD package
• Strong understanding of 2D engineering drawing creation and revision control
• Confidence creating BOMs for production
• A relevant Higher Education qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design, or Engineering
• Excellent attention to detail

Desirable

• Recent, hands-on experience producing assembly and individual part drawings for volume manufacture
• Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
• Strong communicator, comfortable collaborating across Design, Production and Sales
• Confident with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe applications an advantage

HOURS, PAY & LOCATION

£20–£30 per hour, dependent on experience

Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday — flexible start/finish typically between 6am and 6pm

Temporary contract, approx. 12 weeks (with strong potential to extend or move to a permanent role)

On-site at our Thatcham, Berkshire office (RG19 4ZD)
