Summary: The role of Freelance M&E CAD / Design Technician focuses on supporting building services projects with a mechanical bias, primarily through CAD production and early-stage design assistance. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and a solid understanding of building services systems, particularly during RIBA Stages 2-3. This is not a lead design role but rather one that supports the development of coordinated and buildable designs. Key Responsibilities:
- Production of M&E drawings using AutoCAD (Revit beneficial)
- Supporting the development of designs through RIBA Stages 2–3
- Assisting with mechanical services layouts (HVAC, plant rooms, distribution)
- Working from engineer input to help develop coordinated and buildable designs
- Contributing to performance specifications and technical documentation
- Liaising with internal teams to support project delivery and coordination
Key Skills:
- Background in M&E / Building Services, with a mechanical bias preferred
- Experience as a CAD Technician or Junior/Intermediate Design Engineer
- Strong AutoCAD capability (Revit advantageous)
- Exposure to RIBA Stage 2–3 design development
- Understanding of building services systems (HVAC, etc.)
- Able to support design—not just produce drawings

This role sits between CAD production and early-stage design support, assisting the team through RIBA Stage 3. It is not a lead design role but requires a working understanding of building services systems.

Required Experience
Background in M&E / Building Services, with a mechanical bias preferred
