Summary: The Senior Cabling Engineer role involves providing on-site support for Data Centre and IT infrastructure projects across various locations in the UK. The position requires expertise in structured cabling, including installation, termination, and testing of fibre optic cabling. The engineer will also be responsible for rack and stack network equipment and providing technical support to remote teams. This role is classified as inside IR35 and is available for up to 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate and test fibre optic and structured cabling
- Rack and stack network equipment (switches, routers, servers)
- Install cable containment (tray, trunking, fibre runner)
- Carry out patching, testing and fault finding
- Provide on-site support to remote technical teams
Key Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience in structured cabling / Data Centre environments
- Strong fibre installation and testing skills (Fluke experience)
- Understanding of patching schedules and rack builds
- Valid CSCS/ECS (or equivalent) certification
- Industry qualifications (e.g. BICSI, CNET, City & Guilds) and manufacturer accreditations
- Willing to travel within the UK and Overseas
- Flexible to work weekends/ shift/Nights
- Desirable IPAF / PASMA UPS installation experience
- Basic IP knowledge
