Summary: The C Software Engineer role based in Edinburgh involves developing embedded software for aerospace applications, focusing on cutting-edge air warfare technology. The position requires collaboration with firmware and hardware engineers and adherence to airborne software design standards. This contract role is for an initial six months and is open only to sole UK Nationals. The successful candidate will engage in the full software lifecycle using agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded software using RTOSs such as VxWorks or embedded Linux.
- Deploy software to multi-core or distributed hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers to create embedded solutions.
- Utilize C and other scripting languages.
- Adhere to airborne software design standards RTCA 178C and coding standards like MISRA C/C.
Key Skills:
- Experience with the full software lifecycle: Requirements Management, Design, Implementation, Test, and Integration.
- Proficiency in UML and C (11 onwards).
- Knowledge of Object Oriented Design (OOD) techniques.
- Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum and tools like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Gitlab.
- Familiarity with RTCA 178C DAL C Design Assurance or similar.
