Summary: The role of Civil/Structural Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) focuses on overseeing civil and structural elements related to bridges and tunnels within major rail infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the appointed CEM for civil and structural elements focused on bridge and tunnel works within a rail environment.
- Provide engineering assurance and oversight across the full lifecycle – from design through to construction and handover.
- Review and approve technical submissions, including Form A/B, method statements, and temporary works designs.
- Ensure all engineering works are compliant with Network Rail standards, CDM regulations, and client requirements.
- Coordinate with Civil CREs, Design Houses, and Construction Managers to ensure safe, efficient delivery.
- Lead interface management between civil structures, geotechnical, and adjacent disciplines.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or MIStructE) preferred.
- Significant experience as a CEM or senior CRE on rail bridge or tunnel schemes.
- In-depth understanding of Network Rail processes, assurance documentation, and structural design standards.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
