C&I Design Engineer

Summary: The C&I Design Engineer role is a contract position based in Preston, Lancashire, focusing on delivering CE&I designs for small to medium-sized projects within the nuclear industry. The engineer will be a key member of the Project Design Team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of CE&I engineering designs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position requires collaboration with external design partners and involves managing design delivery to meet project timelines. Candidates must undergo enhanced security clearance prior to starting the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of CE&I engineering designs from concept to detailed design.
• Ensure compliance with functional and nuclear safety requirements.
• Manage design delivery to meet agreed programme delivery targets.
• Develop engineering drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, and documentation.
• Coordinate and supervise CE&I designers, CAD Operators, and Junior Engineers.
• Provide technical advice and guidance in engineering and design activities.
• Collaborate with external design partners to support engineering outputs.

Key Skills:

• Good understanding of CE&I engineering principles for the nuclear industry.
• Experience in a nuclear engineering environment or similar regulated industry.
• Knowledge of project processes including design, project management, and risk management.
• Experience in coordinating and supervising design teams.
• Proficient in 21st Century Engineering Tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Trimble Amtech).
• BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or significant relevant experience.
• Professional certifications (I Eng / C Eng / MIET / FIET / APM) are preferred.
